AMEA Power secures BESS projects in South Africa
This programme was organised by South Africa’s Department of Electricity and Energy. The two projects are the Gainfar project and the Boitekong project each with a capacity exceeding 300 MWh.
Furthermore, The Gainfar Project will be connected to the Ngwedi substation while the Boitekong Project will be connected to the Marang substation. These projects are situated in the North West Province and aim to strengthen Eskom’s grid stability. They will deliver essential power, energy, and ancillary services to Eskom through 15-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
Earlier in May 2024, AMEA Power inked a 20-year PPA with Eskom for the 120 MW Doornhoek Solar PV Project. The Solar PV Project was valued at $120 million and was secured during Bid Window 6 of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement.
